The amino acid sequence of plastocyanin from French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris).

چکیده
The amino acid sequence of the plastocyanin from French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) was determined. The protein consists of a single polypeptide chain of 99 residues, and the sequence was determined by characterization of CNBr, tryptic, chymotryptic and thermolysin peptides. When the sequence is compared with that from the plastocyanin of the unicellular green alga Chlorella fusca, the French-bean protein shows the deletion of the N-terminal residue, a two residue insertion and 53 identical residues. Detailed evidence for the sequence of the protein has been deposited as Supplementary Publication SUP 50037 (16pp., 1 microfiche) at the British Library (Lending Division) (formerly the National Lending Library for Science and Technology), Boston Spa, Yorks. Synthesis of dehydrogenation polymers of ferulic acid with high specificity by a purified cell-wall peroxidase from French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).
A cationic (pI 8.3) wall-bound peroxidase has been purified to homogeneity from suspension-cultured cells of French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). The enzyme was a glycoprotein and its M(r) was 46,000 as determined by SDS/Page and h.p.l.c. gel filtration. It was localized biochemically to microsomes and the cell wall, and the latter subcellular distribution was confirmed by immunogold techniques...
متن کاملThe partial amino acid sequence of trypsin inhibitor II from garden bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, with location of the trypsin and elastase-reactive sites.
The amino acid sequences of garden bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) trypsin inhibitor II and a related molecular species II' have been examined. The entire sequence of II' has been determined with the exception of five internal residues. The garden bean inhibitors are highly homologous to the Bowman-Birk soybean inhibitor and lima bean trypsin inhibitor IV. The trypsin-reactive site has been located i...
متن کاملThe effect of priming on physiological and biochemical traits of French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) under cobalt chloride stress
Extended Abstract Introduction: The germination stage ensures the durability, establishment, and final yield of plants. The final density of plants per unit area is resulted when the planted seeds germinate fully and with adequate rate. Plants mainly undergo abiotic stresses that are a considerable constraint for agricultural production worldwide. Seed priming is one of the simplest and cheap...
متن کاملProteolytic Enzyme from French Beans
1. A proteolytic enzyme with some features of a carboxypeptidase has been purified some 1180-fold from the sap of French beans (Phaseolus vulgaris var. Prince). A bright blue protein, plastocyanin, was separated from the enzyme by DEAE-cellulose chromatography. 2. Unlike carboxypeptidase A or B of animal origin, there is no evidence that the enzyme is a metalloprotein. There was no stimulation ...
متن کاملPhotoaffinity labeling of the adenine binding site of the lectins from lima bean, Phaseolus lunatus, and the kidney bean, Phaseolus vulgaris.
8-Azidoadenine was employed as a photoaffinity probe of the adenine binding site of the seed lectin from lima beans and from Phaseolus vulgaris erythroagglutinin. This compound was shown to (a) bind competitively to the adenine binding site of these lectins and (b) exhibit enhanced binding in the presence of 1,8-anilinonaphthalenesulfonic acid in the same manner as adenine. The presence or abse...
